How those neurotransmitters interact together with your gastrointestinal system and your brain depends on what you eat, which may shape how you are feeling mentally.

People who follow the Mediterranean diet or consume healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein have a 25% – 35% lower risk of depression than people who eat high levels of sugar and processed foods.
